Yerbossin Meldibekov (born 1964, Kazahstan) is political artist. He creates conceptual multimedia installations reflecting the process of changes and reforms of central Asia. Meldibekov’s installation Peak Communism (2009) was parody on the utopian aspirations of the Soviet former leaders and the progression of the history. Meldibekov expresses an ironic view on ideology as being nothing more than empty mould. The installation Mutation (2009) reflected how communist symbols, monuments and cultural objects are losing their ideological meaning and became part of new, non-ideological context.
