Taija Helminen (born 1984) is playwright from Helsinki. In 2011 she completed Bachelor of the Arts dramaturgy at the Theatre Academy Helsinki. She also studied social policy and cultural studies as a part of her Master degree in Theatre Arts.
She has been working as a dramaturge for touring performance Paperisilta (“paper bridge”), which has been combining movement, singing, music and theatre. The aim of the performance was to bring experiences of joy and beauty and a sense of focus into everyday life in the reception centre. She has also written documentary comedy about everyday life of the precariat called Radikaaleinta on arki (“The most radical thing in everyday life”). The performance directed by Saana Lavaste had its premiere at Tampereen Teatteri Frenckell stage on October 8th 2013.
