Heike Schuppelius, German professor of scenography at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, studied Architecture and Stage-Design at the University of the Arts Berlin, Architectural Associaton and Central St. Martin in London. Her other study cities are for example Marseille, New York and Cairo. She received several awards, i.e. 2003 the Bessie-Award for her collaboration with Performance Group ELEVATOR REPAIR SERVICE, 2004 the Rome-Price, Villa Massimo, the most signifying awards for Germany based artist. In the following year she was asked to design and realize the new conference hall “German Room” at the Food&Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the UNITED NATIONS in Rome. In collaboration with Sasha Waltz (since 1999) she realized set-designs and video works, e.g. KÖRPER, S, (Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz) and MEDEA (Staatsoper Berlin).
Her latest works were shown on the Warsaw Autumn, the Athens Festival, in Dresden Hellerau, Garage Istanbul and the Natural History Museum, Berlin. Heike Schuppelius is Artist-in-Residence at the Berliner Festspiele and teaches at HfG Karlsruhe.
